Princess Dental Centre’s new
facility will put smiles on the
team’s and patients’ faces
By Olive Taylor
When Princess Dental Centre moves its practice to WestVic Common
in the fall of 2020, the leading-edge facility will have safety features
that many dental clinics across Canada are scrambling to add. The
COVID-19 pandemic was not the impetus behind the relocation,
but it’s serendipitous that Princess Dental had already selected designs, technologies
and finishings that will help protect patients and the team from exposure to viruses.
In the pre-COVID-19 world, the team of 17 had already outgrown the space at
the Princess Avenue location.
“Not only did we need more physical space, but we also needed the configuration
to flow properly,” said Dr. Geoff McIntosh, a dentist and the practice’s
“fearless leader.”
“Our Princess Avenue facility has offered great care for a long time, but it was
time for an upgrade. Logistically, it made more sense to look at another location than
to try and make the changes to our current facility.”
Making the decision to relocate was hard, but selecting the general contractor
was easy. CW2 Construction and Design Ltd. has carved out a niche for itself as a
go-to contractor for dental facilities.
“Dental office builds are unique in their requirements. Luckily for me, there
have been a couple dental office builds in Brandon over the past number of years
and I knew Bart Curtis had been involved in both,” McIntosh said. “Enjoying
Bart’s acquaintance in years past, along with CW2’s experience, made the decision
very easy.”
CW2, a Brandon-based firm, specializes in construction management, designbuild
projects, project management and general contracting. Even though the
company was founded in 2016, Bart Curtis, the president, has 24 years of construction
experience and the company had already been awarded 24 projects shortly after
opening its doors.
Almost all of the foremen have more than 20 years of experience in the industry
and bring credentials such as Red Seal Carpenter and Certified Concrete Technician.
Another team member has expertise with interior finishing, including framing, drywall,
all types of ceilings, doors and hardware, and millwork.
The fresh, client-focused approach to project management, led by Tanya
LaBuick, chief operating officer and partner, combined with the team’s collective
100-plus years of construction industry experience helped to set CW2 apart
in the marketplace.
