“I realized early on this was kind of work I wanted
to do and that no one could stop me. I think I’m
just one of those people who are geared towards
overcoming challenges.”
– Natasha Farren, vice-president, CARM
Q: Do you have any tips or advice for women entering
or thinking about joining the construction industry?
A: I’d say, if you have a dream, don’t give up on it. Don’t hesitate or
stand back. Stay inspired and rely on your family and the positive
people around you who support you to help.
Q: What are your thoughts on Carla and
yourself being elected to the positions of
president and vice-president of CARM?
A: It’s good, it shows the association is being diverse. And it also
shows that our members have faith in us to address their concerns
and provide them with news about the most important
issues within the construction industry. CARM has had a great

leadership team over the years, and Carla and I probably wouldn’t
be here today without the true leadership we’ve experienced with
the executive committee and all the past presidents, who have
given us their full support.
Q: What are you looking forward to achieving
as association vice-president and as part
of the leadership group at CARM?
A: The most important thing to me is growing our association and
increasing learning opportunities – for and from our members.
Most of all, it’s letting our members know they have a voice within
the industry and we’re here to support them. n
